GreenGLAM
AI-Driven Data Sculptures to Promote Sustainability Content of Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums
GreenGLAM will leverage AI to integrate knowledge from GLAMs (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) with public discussions and media, linking them to relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The project aims to enhance citizen experiences through Virtual Data Sculptures and Augmented Reality (AR), enabling interactive exploration of GLAMs’ SDG associations. It will support GLAMs in identifying and promoting these associations with data-driven insights via a web-based dashboard and an AI-powered authoring tool for effective communication.
The project requires advanced infrastructure for data collection and combines AI, artistic, and visualization expertise. Collaboration with leading Austrian cultural institutions and international partners will ensure success.
This interdisciplinary effort, involving AI experts and GLAM representatives, will maximize the potential of GLAM collections, promote SDGs, and educate the public. The project seeks to increase public awareness of SDGs like Climate Action and provide real-time insights on sustainability messages at GLAMs, encouraging sustainable behaviors.
GreenGLAM will innovate in knowledge extraction, predictive analytics, and information visualization, conforming to the EU AI Act and Green AI principles. The methods will be adaptable to other domains. Challenges include developing scalable algorithms for creating data sculptures and handling temporal context in analyses. The project will build on previous work for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to classify GLAM content by SDG relevance and enhance impact using predictive algorithms.
